Acne is a chronic and extremely obstinate skin condition. Millions everywhere
suffer from acne skin disorder, also known as acne vulgaris. When oil develops
in the sebaceous glands, it is intended to support the skin. However, it can not
get to the surface due to clogged pores. This oil gets trapped and the end
result is bulging whiteheads and blackheads. Also bacteria called P. acnes
infests the area and spreads pus to nearby locations triggering more pimples. In
ClearLight acne treatment, intensified blue light narrows in on the location
impacted by acne in order to kill any bacteria and also clear all the clogged
pores. This blue light will kill bacteria by photodestruction, but yet will not
hurt any adjoining cells. This ClearLight acne treatment can be utilized in any
location for clearing out the problematic acne.

Acne Light Treatment Study
An open study to ascertain the usefulness of blue light in the
treatment of mild to moderate acne.
BACKGROUND: The increase in antibiotic resistance threatens to greatly
reduce the potential usefulness of the current mainstay of care. Phototherapy
has recently been proven as being valuable in dealing with acne, with renewed
attention as both endogenous and exogenous photodynamic therapies are proven for
this condition
OBJECTIVES: To establish the results of narrowband blue light involved in
the alleviation of inflammatory and non-inflammatory skin lesions in sufferers
with mild to moderate acne and to review patient tolerance of the therapy.
METHODS: We carried out an open study utilizing a blue LED light source
in thirty subjects with mild to moderate facial acne. Across four weeks,
patients received eight 10- or 20-minute light procedures, peak wavelength
409-419 nm at 40 mW/cm2. Assessments were taken at weeks 5, 8 and 12 and lesion
counts were then noted. Repeated measures-ANOVA and Dunnett's tests,
respectively, allowed evaluation of the various scores over time and made way
for comparison of mean counts.
RESULTS: An overall effect on inflammatory counts was noticed at week 5,
and a statistically sizeable decrease in inflamed counts was observed at the
week 8 assessments, which carried on to week 12. Generally there was very little
effect on non-inflamed lesions. The treatment was well tolerated with adverse
events experienced generally rated as being mild and usually self-limiting.
CONCLUSIONS: Eight 10- or 20-minute treatments over 4 weeks with a
narrowband blue light was found to be safe and effective in reducing the number
of inflamed lesions in individuals with mild to moderate acne. The treatment
method had little impact on the number of comedones. The onset of the effect was
observable at the first assessment, at week 5, and maximal between weeks 8 and 12.
